Crufts attracted an entry of over 21000 dogs for it’s annual show at the NEC near
Birmingham in March, 2011. To the casual observer it’s chaotic! Dogs here, dogs there,
posing like canine super models, being combed, cut and blow dried, jumping through
hoops and tunnels, being prodded and pawed over by their owners and, of course, the
very serious and expert judges. All are trying to be the top dog and all seem to
know their place.
The show has a unique atmosphere and you can feel the excitement and friendly rivalry
between the owners. Photography is a challenge. Difficult and fussy backgrounds and
models that rarely look at the camera.
However, the breeders and owners seem to love the limelight as much as the dogs and
will happily help in obtaining interesting shots. The photographs here give a small
flavour of Crufts, we’ll definitely be back next year.
